This week, we bid farewell to two of BurdaStyle’s outstanding teammates: Editorial & E-commerce Manager Jamie Lau (pictured right) and Community Manager Jillian Lum (pictured left). While the rest of the BurdaStyle editorial team was jamming out to Solange Knowles on Madison Avenue at the Coach store, I opted for a more low-key Fashion’s Night Out in Brooklyn with some fashionista friends. Check out some photo highlights from our evening out!

I had just moved to NYC – friends were few and my new apartment didn’t lend well to my favorite hobby, oil painting. The need to take steps to fulfill my social and creative needs was evident. I began doing a little online research, attempting to find an affordable painting and/or sewing class in Brooklyn. This is when I stumbled upon 3rd Ward. Before I knew it I was touring the facility, seeing everything 3rd Ward had to offer, from woodworking to graphic design to fashion. Because I was looking for a painting class more advanced than the ones offered at 3rd Ward, it was clear I was meant to take their Sewing: Level I class instead.

The New York team has been admiring the Anda Dress sewing pattern for quite some time now after being inspired by all the great member variations. So we all got together for an office group sewing challenge, creating our own interpretations of this flattering and versatile pattern. We are in the process of updating our pattern instructions, in order to make them more comprehensive and easier to follow. The following instructions have now been revised:
