I would entertain the idea of sewing one of your men’s patterns. Any plans to give away free patterns like Burda has done in past years?

My husband is a carpenter and loves tools, any kind of tool. We live in the North and get snow so he loves western boots and cool/cold weather vests. I invested in a man’s vest pattern and will endeavor to make a nice vest for him. I think the best gift is something the man is interested in. Especially if the gift is something he wouldn’t buy for himself.

Fleece and flannel lounge pants are flying off the sewing machine assembly line as we speak. They’re always appreciated by the guys in the family this time of year.

Just for fun (and to make him feel like he’s ahead of the tech curve), a pair of 3D viewing goggles. Video/movie and film clips are just starting to come on the market (free and paid), not nearly flooding in yet. Guys love trying out new “stuff” so a simple pair would be ideal for boys and men. They are in stores and online now. Shop around — they are at all price-points. Oh yes, they are used with android and Apple phones. Would delay on paying for a sophisticated set until a few years from now.

I live in a houseful of men. My husband, and four sons. The dilemma of what to give them has been a yearly thing. Last year I decided to buy them all bath robes and pajamas. At the time my sewing machine was not working and I could not sew so I bought them at a local store. The gift seemed to please them all so it was a good idea. My guys can always use a new wallet at Christmas time. They seem to wear out more quickly for men because they handle them so much and carry them in their back pockets. This year I am making wallets for my boys from superhero fabric covered in a iron on vinyl covering. They have been a lot of fun to design and sew.

A pillow with the cover made from the center (with logo, cartoon, etc.) of a favorite T-shirt that was worn out elsewhere (holes under sleeves, neck ribbing) and thrown away, never to be seen again (sob!) until it reappears as a pillow. :-D

This is the year for Immune boosters for the men/boys in my life. They have all been sick, some multiple times, while the women have skated along healthy. (knock on wood) So I will be introducing them to tinctures, teas, immune boosting ingredients for cooking, etc.
