I always love hand quilting quilts, I would hand stitch them all but it takes way too much time!

I hand appliquéd and quilted a small Baltimore quilt while recovering from surgery. It took 6 months in total and it kept me sane as I was not allowed to do very much. It is my pride and joy and I have it on an old towel rack in my bedroom so that I can look at it each morning. My quilt is almost 14 years old.

I have a pouch for sewing materials that I made when I was eight years old (almost half a century ago!). I know that because along with beautiful embroidery samples, I hand- stitched the year on the pouch. I am still using it.

I love little handmade projects and I really enjoyed making a little Japanese bag that was entirely sewn by hand.

Hand sewing is the best think for learning being patiente. At least it works for me. I was, and still am, so result oriented that usually I forget to enjoying the actual work. Lately I made some toys and my future project (hopefully in january) I plan to do real bag using hand sewing technique.

My brother is in the navy and he wanted me to crochet a JDAM bomb for him, which I did. Only I just crocheted the body part of it so it didn’t quite look like a JDAM specifically since they have “sleeve” details on them. Since I couldn’t really crochet those thin parts I decided to hand stitch them with some felt, the felt was thin and stiff enough to resemble the actual pieces. I did them at the last minute so I was a little stressed, even though I love hand sewing; honestly though, those hand sewn details really made the JDAM and I loved the result after, as did my brother.

I haven’t actually completed a whole project by hand, but I am learning embroidery. I made the cutest baby blanket with an applique of a moon and clouds. I hand stitch all of my applique designs, as I did with this blanket. I think hand stitching just just makes applique so much more unique and personalized.

Uhh, I have hand stitched a lot of things and not all have been little. But my favorite hand-sewed project would be balloon pants for viking age reenactment. They were so good looking:)
