Just as Jamie Chalmers explores how indie-crafters and artists are pushing the boundaries of traditional crafts, my biggest influence is the groundbreaking and often subversive artist and film maker Derek Jarman. His captivating work shined through his attention to detail, his knowledge and reference to art and history, the decadent use of colour through set design and costume and his belief in the creativity of all the artists he collaborated with.

Currently it’s Gustav Klimt. I find his colors, patterns, and compositions fascinating. Right now I’m in the process of designing a monogram for myself inspired by one he used to sign “Portrait of Emilie Flöge, 1902/03”. I want to have an abstract way to sign my work that is more decorative element and not just plain letters.
