Wow, I follow tons of sewing blogs, but my favorites are Dixie DIY, Cottons and Curls and Sewing Steady. And for inspiration (for drafting my own patterns) I follow 9 to 5 Chic, and Mia’s Fashion Scrapbook. The links are below. Enjoy!

It may seem strange, but I often get inspiration for sewing and fashion ideas from sites and books that are not actually directly related to sewing. For example, I have sewn dresses that were inspired by mid-century modern furniture and the colors that were used to decorate homes in the time period (pistachio/olive, cream, warm brown, silver etc.). Here is one really cool site I find to be very inspirational: http://midcenturymodernist.com/. I also find inspiration in art deco architecture, oddly enough. The emphasis on symmetry and high contrast colors and geometric motifs has been something that has driven me to look at my fashion designs in a different way. One great blog that has sparked my interest has been http://modernismtas.blogspot.com/.

If I followed every sewing blog like I do BurdaStyle, I would never get anything done.
I have purchased online sewing classes from Craftsy. http://www.craftsy.com/classes
I am actually way more of a knitter than I am a sewist. So, I spend a lot of time researching patterns on Ravelry. https://www.ravelry.com
I desperately need help with figuring out how to make the most of Pinterest. I don’t use any of my social networking platforms with any degree of ability. This book sounds great!
