While my closet is packed with it’s fair share of neutral hues, make no mistake about how much I love color. Spring runways were packed with fun new ways to pair shades ranging from acid brights to deep blues and I pulled together a few of my favorite new combos that you can rock well into fall’s crisp weather. Click through to see my picks and dare to make yourself a colorful new ensemble!
Acid Brights – Yes you can mix neon shades without looking like a 90s-era candy raver! The trick? Keep the silhouette as simple as possible and forego embellishment or heavy accessories.
The Colors:

Runway looks from left: Burberry, MaxMara, Aquilano.Rimondi.
The Outfits:

Patterns from left: Tunic, Larissa Jacket, Long Sleeve Top, Trousers with Side Zip, Lightweight Suit Jacket, Pencil Skirt.
The Blues – Turquoise is one of my favorite colors – who knew it went so well with shades of orange?
The Colors:

Runway looks from left: Prabal Gurung, Costume National, Acne.
The Outfits:

Patterns from left: Long Top, Sidone Variation Skirt, Mao Collar Blouse, Canvas Skirt.
Shades of Love – As a child, I remember that the only time I was ever allowed to wear pink and red together was on Valentines Day. No longer is that the case as we now see pink paired up with all shades of red, even orange (my mother is horrified about this, I’m sure). Would you dare to try these bold combos?
The Colors:

Runway looks from left: Loewe, Prabal Gurung, Emma Stone in Giambattista Valli.
The Outfits:

Patterns from left: Leather Top, Canvas Skirt, Dress with Bubble Skirt, Long Top, Skirt with Front Pleat.
Purple Reign – For some reason I’ve always thought of purple as a much more girly color than pink, but a deep indigo-purple paired with bright orange remedies any of those preconceived notions. Also, how great is that blue-purple hue paired with chocolate brown? That might be my new fall color obsession.
The Colors:

Runway looks from left: Issa, Celine, Jil Sander.
The Outfits:

Patterns from left: Cross Back Tanks, Long Skirt, Sleeveless Top, Janina Pants, Long Sleeve Polo Shirt, Long Jacket, Satin Trousers.

I remember “old school teaching guide” that some colours cannot go together (like red/green); and I love the trends breaking that rule now :D

Thank goodness!!!!! I am SO sick of black! It’s really great to see color here. I love the combinations too, although I would tone it down a bit for me -not much though; I’m going to be 59 and fabulous!

Thank you Burda team for showing us how to take boring patterns and really wow the world. I’m huge fan of colour, this has made me rush back to my back stacks of magazines to revisit some plainer styles and think “outfit” not item. It’s the combinations, and you’ve done a great job showing us which B-patterns might fit the look. Also I’ve got to crack my patterned print addiction this is fabulous to getting me in another direction.

Ok, sorry to be irreverent, but what’s with the yellow lipstick and the boob shirt? o_O
I do like some of the stuff. And I like the idea.

Maybe I’m strange, but I’m not a huge fan of this. Especially not on me, but I’ve seen people who really suit it.

LOVE the red and pink leather Loewe combo. Not so sure about brown and purple though, it makes me think of Cadburys chocolate.

lol! you know, i always think of spring & fall as being similar because they’re changing seasons. the weather is always unpredictable. whereas winter & summer seem more stable.
looking at this color blocking it struck me as very dynamic :D

Ha, I already had an unhealthy fondness for ridiculous bright color combos. I am amused to see this is a “thing” now. Now I can pretend I’m trendy and not childish.
