Sick of BurdaStyle. Burda Plus special is 3/5 duplicated patterns. What a joke. I’ve not renewed my subscription to BS and will be re-evaluating my BS+ subs when they are due. I’ll continue to look at the issue previews on www.patternreview.com and the Russian or French sites and, maybe, buy individual issues.

Burda, you are losing English-speaking customers every day by not making the same information available in English that’s available in Russian, French, Italian, and German. I wouldn’t be surprised if you’d lost many thousands of previous customers and also potential new customers since you took down the English Burda site a few months ago. (I don’t mean THIS site — I mean the English site where we used to be able to find information about Burda magazines and envelope patterns.) I love Burda patterns, but I’m almost beginning to wonder if someone at Burda has something against English-speaking customers. Don’t you want our money?

Many times recently I’ve directed someone to the French site when they’ve asked about finding Burda information, but surely it’s YOUR job to help customers find what they’re looking for? Not everyone will post a question on a sewing forum when they can’t find what they’re looking for — they’ll just give up.

Please, we implore you — abandon this ridiculous idea of merging the two English sites and just give us back an English version of the site that’s currently available in French, Italian, and Russian. If you like, post a link there to this BurdaSyle community site, but as an extra. The MAIN site should be the one where people can access information about the products you sell. This only makes good business sense. Unless you have some reason for wanting to commit business suicide?

I think it is about time we had some answers. There have been way too many comments by users, and very few answers from the team. We don’t want to hear it will be sorted in the next few months, and we don’t want to be asked what features we missed. It is pretty obvious that what you are all trying hasn’t worked. That goes for the site(s) as well as the magazine. Who made the decision to change the pattern format? Has anyone traced patterns from the new magazines without thowing their hands in the air in frustration that they couldn’t see a darn thing?? Put the price up and go back to the way it was. Burda used to be about quality!

      Absolutely agreed!
This stuck situation just makes me upset, especially when I realize that even my mother started with Burda magazine and it was always great, everything worked, they had their own fabrics to order… not anymore and this change totally killed my opinion about Burda… lost tradition and it’s getting boring. Magazine, even the online support.

Dear BurdaStyle. It takes very unusual long time to redirect everything to BurdaStyle. You guys should really do something because this is horrible. I can’t even go through the magazine which I always did and honestly I’m not even in the mood to get one since I can’t decide in peace. The BurdaStyle is going downhill according to my opinion, patterns are not that interesting, I can’t find any stuff from BurdaFashion. It has been awhile since the merge and you still didn’t provide anything. Where are you? On summer vacation? What is going wrong?

Hello Burda – it is now almost September and the material that everyone wants is STILL NOT AVAILABLE – all the nice little Union Jack links on the now-vaguely-functional German site take me back to this wholly incomplete and inadequate site. What is WRONG with Burda? I cannot imagine an adequate explanation for leaving all the thousands of English speaking users of Burda Magazine out in the cold for months and months. Utterly feeble. Completely inept. Inexcusable.

Burda style is just simply appalling. Bring back the Burda fashion site! The fashion is non-existent and the patterns mediocre.

Hello Burda Style! I love this site and the fashion site both for different reasons, that don’t seem to be merging at all.

Is there any news on when we can access the burda patterns on the english site? It’s been two months and with fall thankfully on it’s way I’d like to see new patterns and download the ones that aren’t available in the US (the Fashion Line by Burda). I’ve been waiting and I’m getting becoming very disappointed…

I am sorry if I missed the answer to this, but are the magazines and envelope patterns going to still be developed in English? I am talking about future magazines and patterns? I hope so. As a beginner sewer, I don’t think the downloads will have all the information I will need. I like to see models wearing the pattern too. Also I just sent in money for a subscription to the plus magazine. I already have the one from January so I hope they do not send that. They should refund my money if there aren’t going to be any magazines in the future. How do I email someone to find out? I ordered this through amazon.com Thanks!

Very much disappointed!!! Have grown up “on” Burda Fashion and subscribed for many years, enjoyed so much visiting the website, sorry but not any more!!! Burda Style is just not the same and not good at all. And with the change my user name & password was invalid, Why? This is not the way to treat Burda followers. I hope it will go back to what it was before – it was GOOD! regards – Miroslawa

It’s been 5 years since Aenne Burda, the founder of Burda Magazine died. The brand seems to be in complete disarray. I hope the company can settle her estate, stop the power fights and not squander a great enterprise. <http://www.aenne-burda.com > In the words of Aenne Burda, “Faithfulness is a great virtue. It’s closely related to reliability and most characteristic of humankind.”

Dear Burda, please stay reliable, and don’t let us lose faith…

I agree with you, PatoBB. we may have two separate issues.

Firstly, we are missing our direct link and connection to Burda Magazine and quite simply, we want our link to the magazine back!! Not complicated!! It’s nothing personal to BurdaStyle, but we have been abandoned by the magazine site, which we all seem to love so much. I know Burdastyle may be trying, but it seems there are other issues at play.

Secondly, the magazine itself seems to be undergoing some big changes as well, and losing our site may be part of this – who knows?? Therefore, I think we should let the Burda Media itself know our worries and this may not be the forum to do so.

If this is the case, then we should probably be expressing our concerns directly to Hubert Burda Media, particularly as it seems our voices might be dwindling in cyberspace. Before I abandon Burda all together, I will try once more. I just can’t imagine sewing without Burda!! So lets all hit the contact button in the bottom right of this page and send our concerns directly to the source…. at least I hope it goes to the source!! Unless someone else has another link or contact please let us know!

First of all. Has BurdaStyle site anything to do with Burda Magazine? Because this is crucial… If not, only complaints directed to the style and shape of the site have place here. I have complaints regarding the site AND the mag.

I am so upset. Not only english speaking people are having trouble. Spanish speaking people too. Our version of the mag just changed to BurdaStyle too, in the meantime we lost november 2009 edition (it was not edited in Spanish) and they tried to convince us that the November-december 2009 was the substitute (it was just December´s edition!) and now this!!!!!!!!!!!! Outrageous.

We do not have a spanish site either. I always browsed everything in the English site. Burda Fashion of course. Burda Style was meant for a totally different stuff!!!

I miss the mag archives, which I used to browse through the earlier editions just to avoid using my paper copies (Oh yes, I am a devoted fan, buying Burda since I was 13 years old and now I am 46). I miss the way you could browse through the new editions of Burda. I don´t like the new style but this is just a cosmetic change.

I have not had the opportunity of “wrecking” in the new pattern sheets (we still have the 8 sheets version in Argentina, as the last issue we got was January 2010 in the capital, I live in a small town and the last issue we got was October 2009). But I was so uset to the nightmare of tracing patterns in the old old old sheets that this would be nothing compared to the other significant changes that the mag suffered.

But why on Earth there is no Spanish site for us?

    I feel totally disappointed.

hi I agree with what the others have said. I likes both sites and rather have it that way but if we can only have 1 site please fix this site and make it more user friendly. I liked that I could look at the magazine and archives at burdafashion, please add that here. It would have been better to add the content here first before removing the burda fashion site.

It is really really disappointing not to be able to find patterns by catalogue as I used to. Someone was asking about making up a particular pattern and there is no way to find the technical drawing. You have really annoyed me and made it less likely for me to buy Burda patterns in future.

I am not as displeased as others about this migration, since I wasn’t a huge BurdaFashion visitor. I do, however, find it very annoying that I get tons of “activity notification” emails about BurdaFashion patterns being uploaded. I find it clutters my inbox, and its rather irritating. Also, if you’re going to upload all these new projects, at least have more than one photo of them. How are we supposed to determine if we like the pattern or not, if theres one photo in which the garment isn’t even displayed to its fullest?! As a novice sewer, its difficult for me to picture complete garments using only the technical drawings, so more photos would be great.

Well, I’m writing this on Feb. 2, 2011, and it looks like this is the last reply from anyone at Burda.

Are you guys still in business? What the heck is going on?

Judging by the number of comments, your Silence is doing you NO GOOD.

      Give us SOMETHING.

i cannot believe the amount of frustration i’ve had in the last week – all I’ve wanted to do is view the magazines!! and I kept getting redirected here with no inkling as to why until I added “re-direct” to the search terms – how many other people are out there becoming frustrated?

As much as I love the patterns from the magazines, there is so much frustration involved, first It takes 3 months for them to get to the shops here in NZ. Second I’ve tried subscribing but when and if I get responses it is in German (despite my request going through to international english dept), I’ve tried buying archive copies from the websites – unable to order for anything being shipped to NZ. AAAARGGGh

    I just want to sew!

    Hello,

I won’t write about what I don’t like about this new merge but I will write about what I really miss and would like to see here on Burda Style.

What I really loved about Burda Fashion is that I was able to view the magazine and see the patterns from the magazine and the black outline version of it.

I like the way the online magazine pages can be turned to view the contents( you can see this particular feature in the Burda Sweden site)

Viewing the magazine and seeing the patterns for the current issue (and also with the past issues) was very useful so that I could decide to go and buy the current issue, upcoming issue, or order back issues.

Also, the current “trends” was sometimes available to read. I really liked that.

This is all that I can think of right now. I hope that these features will be integrated into this site.

This is all a big mess. The English burdastyle site is a pale comparison to the European language ones. And btw, can I mention I hate taping downloaded patterns together? It’s a waste of paper, time, tape, money. Plus, I still have to make lots of adjustments for my personal measurements. I suspect that in the online pattern wars, two techniques will win:

    1) Drafting by hand from personal measurements. This is a popular technique in Japanese sewing mags and it works.

    2) Downloading of sewing patterns tweaked to custom measurements. The software is improving and everyone would rather have a custom fit if they go to the trouble of taping paper together.
