[Update 10/26/2011] – Thank you all for your feedback regarding this contest. To assist in viewing all of the amazing submissions, we have created a Flickr set , which allows you to view them in bulk, as thumbnails.

To vote for your favorite costume, please be sure to click on the link in its respective image page on Flickr that reverts back to the BurdaStyle slideshow, and select the “Vote” icon below the image. Only votes within the dedicated slideshow on BurdaStyle will be counted.

Please note that the set itself is only available to those who click on the link above.

Again, thank you all so much for your participation in this wonderful contest!

[Update 10/25/2011] – Don’t see your project that you submitted before the deadline? Send us an e-mail at Answers[at]BurdaStyle[dot]com and we will post it in the slideshow.

You guys really turned it up a notch for this contest!

We’ve uploaded all the entries and now it’s time for the BurdaStyle community to have their say in our Halloween Costume Contest sponsored by BERNINA.

View the slideshow here or head over to our Gallery section to begin voting.

How Voting Works:
-You must be signed into your BurdaStyle account to vote.
-Click the pink “Vote” button to vote for an individual project. The number in parentheses is the current number of votes for that project.
-You can vote for as many projects as you like, but can only vote once for each individual project.

You have until Sunday, October 30th at midnight (EST) to vote for your favorite spooky creation and decide who gets to take home the sweet cash prizes.

BERNINA will also be choosing their favorite, who will score a brand new BERNINA 350PE Sewing Machine, so click through all the projects and get those votes in now!

This competition blew all previous competitions out of the water will an overwhelmingly awesome number of entries! We know there is a lot, so we ask that you make yourself a nice cup of tea, take a seat, and peruse through all of the entries.

Also, we encourage you to find your own project in the slideshow and share the link to your friends and family. They will need to click “Vote” on your project for their opinion to count towards winning!

I have a “tip”/suggestion, for both voters and submitters, who don’t have the time/internet connection to see every large +240 entries! While I highly encourage everybody to go through all of them and vote for your favs, here’s an idea:

For the submitters, go through all the submissions, find your page/the link to your costume(s) and then go to your original project entry. Do NOT edit your entry, simply leave a comment on your project with a link to it. (I say this in case by editing your entry you get disqualified or the time stamp changes, etc). That way…

…if you want to see all the costumes (and vote!) you can use the search bar at the top, search for BERNINA Halloween 2011 and it will bring up all the entries in projects. Just do a ‘view all results’ for the project section, and you’ll be able to see thumbnails and a little bit of a write-up about each costume. If all submitters comment on their entry with a voting link, you can vote without having to click through the hundreds of projects to get to it!

I uploaded one of my entries on the last day and I’m not seeing it even though there are other entries that I think were submitted after mine that are in the slideshow. Are you still uploading entries to the slideshow?

Oh dear – so embarrassed – have received a very APPROPRIATE replay to my my concerns from David… I was trying to respond with a kind ‘thank-you’ yet clicked on the ‘mark as inappropriate’ icon instead – sincere apologies as that was not my intention. I wanted to say: thank you for your attention to this matter, contests are meant to be fun, and I am sure we will all do our best to keep it that way. Kind regards, Trina

      Hi Trina,

No need to be embarrassed :) Thank you for participating in this contest, and for your patience as we smooth out some of the wrinkles.

It’s been very funny work for this project, and i’ve done it mostly to have fun, but i have to make a little observation about the voting-page: there’s some interesting project at the end of the slideshow, which people have to go through all the slideshow for long time before they can see (i’ve taken 10 minuts to watch " fast " all the project), so i think that it was easier to have all the photo visible in icons, in one single page, where people could go to click on the projects they like at once. The project are been uploaded randomly on the slideshow (some old project may appear first or last, there’s not a real rule about it) and 237 projects are so many that after 100 photo people get tired to go forward…so who will get the most votes will be just in the begin.

I agree. I knew you project, loved it, but I struggle to find it. after 150 projects I gave up. Mine are also towards the end. The fact that people get bored is a valid point and should be addressed, and the projects randomized. You will see that the first 10 projects already got votes, while the next were not even seen, understandingly.

There seems to be some entries missing. Why is that? I noticed a bunch there were definitely uploaded before the stated deadline that are not in the slide show.

Also, how is it that an entry uploaded in 2010 is valid for this years contest?

The time stamp on this site is out of wack. I posted my original comment just now at 8:37 a.m. – note a.m. Even counting for the fact I am in MST my original comment came in at 2:37PM – huh???

Please, will the contest runners give the missing entries the benefit and allow them through to be voted on since there is obviously something out of wack with your time?

      Hi Trina,

Thank you for pointing out the missing entries. This appears to be an oversight on our part, and we sincerely apologize for this. We are adding all missing entries now. If there are any others that you feel we may have missed, please e-mail us at Answers[at]BurdaStyle[dot]com.

Regarding the entry uploaded in 2010, the purpose of our contest was for you to share your handmade costumes that were made specifically for Halloween 2011. We hoped that all members would share very recent projects that they have made, but this requirement was not explicitly stated.

red-faced- wrote an apology. please understand it was a mistake hitting the ‘mark as inappropriate’ to Davids totally reasonable response.

I too, added mine by the cut off date, but it is showing as added yesterday? Not correct…..so what do we do? Is there anyway to have ours included……? What a shame, you are missing out on some really terrific i costumes.

      Thank-you!
Also, just a side note: since it takes so long to go through the line up, would it be possible to rotate the entries, so everyone’s creations are seen? just a thought! Sooo many great works!

I agree with Mixtlli. It’s nice that everyone is entered but there should be an easier way to vote. With my slow connection I think it would take hours for me to go all the way through. I like to go through them all and work out which ones to vote for but this would take too long.

I am sorry, I don’t like to criticize, but I think this is ridiculous, nobody is going to look at all the entries!!! I know there is always someone that is unhappy with the contest rules, but really, 236 entries? And we can see only one at a time? Ridiculous.

      Hello,

Thank you for your feedback. We wanted to be sure that every entry had the opportunity to accumulate votes, and hope that people will take the time to enjoy all of the amazing entries that were submitted.

We do, however, understand that there are a lot of entries, and will absolutely consider site enhancements that will make for a more efficient voting process for future contests.

      Best,

      David

Is there a way to view all the entries (or at least multiple) on one screen? I think this would make voting easier than to click through all two hundred plus entries! I do think it would be more fair to the entries near the end since some people may only click through the first dozens. Just a thought!
