Hello Beloved Members! We cannot begin to express how grateful we are for your patience these past few days! We ran into a catch-22 because the site crashed due to heavy traffic our server couldn’t handle, and while we were glad to have so many visits, we were totally overwrought by the problems that came with our popularity! Thankfully, we’ve got the most awesome members ever, who, though disappointed by the crash, stuck with us! We’re glad to see everyone uploading their creations again, and hope you will continue to do that as the site gets better and better!

We also want to share with you the new designs that will be featured in our Alice in Workingland Spring/Summer 08 Collections, designed by BurdaStyle Members! These submissions have successfully adapted current and future trends into clothing that fits in with BurdaStyle and the Alice in Workingland theme! Kasia26 has taken a creative approach to her submissions, by making small-scaled versions of her designs modeled by a Bratz doll! The jacket is beautiful and innovative, and the skirt flattering and trendy! Snaggletooth, had a very well thought out and beautifully illustrated submission. The top we chose for its intricacy and style. We are happy to have received all the submissions, and look forward to the next deadline, when we are sure to have even more beautiful and thoughtful submissions like these!

Hi Guys!! There are 12 new designs coming. We ended up only choosing those three from all the submissions we got. It is our idea to pretty much choose all the designs from user submissions, therefore the more submissions the better! We do not choose by skill of drawing. The design can be presented in any way, as long as we feel that it is a solid design based on a strong idea. If you feel like you would rather present it as a pattern or muslin right away, that is okay with us, we just wanted to save you work. We hope to see plenty submissions for the next deadline, we can’t wait to make the collections more and more about YOU!

    Congrats girls!

Those dolls are adorable and the styles are very fashion forward. Good choices for the Women’s Trend.

Does this mean you will be creating patterns for these? I like shirt and would totally sew it given a pattern :)

Will mens wear and plus sizes be featured next (out of the first round)?

Great to see results up, but whatever happened to the menswear and plus size categories? It confuses me a bit, though. I love the designs and the illustrations, but I thought we could also enter patterns (after first selection based on illustrations) which seemed great to me, and probably to quite some others like me, who can design clothes and make patterns, but aren’t much good at making such beautiful sketches. I guess I’m just suprised not to see designs with pattern in the end results…
