Burda Style For people who sew

I love the One Shoulder Maxi and Flower Dress from our recent Honeymooners pattern collection. I vision these dresses to be worn at a beach resort, with the fabric gusting in the summer wind…wow I wish that could me right now! To indulge my fantasy I created this style guide for these dresses, and how I would wear them.

Just coming into April we are starting to think about spring fashion. This Halter Neck Dress has a gathered bustier bodice and full, swinging bell skirt is reminiscent of film stars of the 50s’. It would make a perfect spring/summer dress for 2013. But how would you wear it? We want to know!

Last night the 85th Academy Awards went down, and we had our eye on what the starlets were wearing! The Oscars are a fashion show right? Oh right, there are some awards given out for movies as well. Firstly, I really liked Olivia Munn in this deep red and gold Marchesa gown.

Pantone named emerald the color of 2013. We could not be more thrilled! It is a lovely color and was seen on many recent fashion runways. Pantone describes emerald as “Lively. Radiant. Paris Fashion Week wrapped up last week. Paris both confirmed the key trends spotted at the other fashion weeks, as well as highlighting some new trends. There was an overall monochromatic palette in simple silhouettes. Sportswear dominated the runway and is sure to be a hot trend this coming Spring / Summer 2013. Milan fashion week came to a close last week, and it sure didn’t disappoint! We saw the 40s look from Bottega Veneta, Prada’s 60s vibe, and romantic looks from Alberta Ferretti. I recently attended a press preview of the Ivy Style exhibit at The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology (MFIT). The collection was cleverly curated as if you were on set at an Ivy League university campus (a grass-covered quad, a chemistry classroom, a dorm room) in a sea of Ralph Lauren, Jeffrey Banks, and Brooks Brothers classics.
