Call for Designers at the ASE Passion for Fashion! Design Challenege

Our friends over at the American Sewing Expo are putting out a call for designers. The deadline for entry is July 1, 2010.

Enter the 4th Annual ASE Passion For Fashion! design challenge. It’s a live challenge that lets you show of your skills as a seamstress and designer. Contestants are given a secret scenario and have 24 hours to design and produce an outfit. After the final fittings, garments are walked down the runway by professional models and judged by industry leaders.

Prizes include but are not limited to: A Trip to New York City with the ASE Tour, Baby Lock Espire Sewing Machine, Baby Lock Imagine DX Serger and more!

Exciting new competition and boy is it a quick one! You have until April 2nd to send in your garments to be entered to win an invitation to have you garment modeled on the runway of the Sitches & Craft Show in Melbourne, a $500 Gift Voucher from Tessuti Fabrics, a BurdaStyle Editorial Feature by Nikkishell, and a pattern of your choice from BurdaStyle!

Create your garment and upload it to BurdaStyle, include a detailed description of your garment such as how you altered the pattern, any techniques you used, your fabric choice and any other details you think we should know. Email a photo of it to submissions@burdastyle.com by 11:59 pm EST April 2nd include ‘Stitches & Craft Melbourne’ in the title, in the body of the email you must include your user name, garment title and link to the project on BurdaStyle.

Get Inspired by Alabama Studio Style Contest

We are so excited to bring you a new competition. It’s perfect for every skill level, and we encourage you all to enter! This one is all about taking inspiration from Natalie Chanin’s new book, Alabama Studio Style.

From her studio in Florence, Alabama, Natalie Chanin, founder and creative director of the acclaimed fashion and lifestyle company Alabama Chanin, works with local artisans to create handmade organic cotton-jersey clothing sought by connoisseurs of beauty and sustainable style worldwide. In Alabama Studio Style, a follow-up to the celebrated Alabama Stitch Book, Chanin takes her fans on another compelling journey of creativity, technique, and inspiration, this time sharing many more of her beautiful stenciling, stitching, and beading methods, and a collection of over 20 projects, including her award-winning dresses and skirts. The Sewing & Stitchery Expo held February 25-28 in Puyallup, WA is the largest consumer sewing show in the country. Coats & Clark is sponsoring this year’s charity Pink & Red Fashion Show, with BurdaStyle hosting the virtual event!
